Our mission is to ensure every cat and dog has a safe, happy, and healthy life through direct animal care and community engagement programs focused on promoting animal welfare and fostering a thriving, compassionate community.
We are based in Austin and the Central Texas area, while also extending our support to communities across the state, including small towns along the Texas Coast, such as Palacios. Our goal is to establish an Animal Welfare Children’s Education Center that provides a haven for abandoned or stray animals, ensuring they have opportunities for adoption rather than euthanasia. This initiative also creates a unique opportunity to educate the next generation about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
Texas, despite its size and resources, lags behind other states in implementing widespread no-kill practices. By promoting humane alternatives to euthanasia, increasing community engagement, and enhancing education, we aim to bridge that gap and serve as a model for other regions across the state.
We are a recognized 501 (c) 3 organization, our Tax ID is 99-4165582.
Our organization does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, sex, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, or disability.
CURRENT PROJECTS
-
We are excited to announce the launch of our Dog Walking Program in partnership with Animal Care Services (City of Palacios). We have named the program after our dear friend Deuce who recently passed. He was a best friend to all.
Our Director, Kristen Kevitch, has successfully launched the initiative within our organization and will be recruiting volunteers who are interested in joining this effort to support our furry friends. Please go to the tab for volunteer opportunities to signup to help. Please check out our events page for more information or signup as a volunteer.

By building a no-kill shelter, we are addressing Texas’s status as the state with the highest euthanasia rates. By promoting humane alternatives, increasing community engagement, and enhancing education, this shelter will serve as a model for other regions across the state.
The facility will also house an Animal Welfare Children’s Education Center, offering programs that emphasize the connection between land and sea animals and the importance of protecting both. While the shelter addresses immediate needs, educating the community and future generations on caring for domestic animals and coastal ecosystems is essential for lasting change.

Future Projects 2025- 2026
• Central Texas support for a no-kill shelter and TNR program. We will be working with community and other nonprofits in the area to assist with grants, funding, and support.
•Texas Coastal Area- Educational efforts that blend animal welfare, ocean studies, and wildlife conservation.
•A dog walking program can foster connections between people, dogs, and the outdoors in several meaningful ways. A dog walking program offers not just a chance to get outside and be active, but also to engage with others, share experiences, and strengthen a sense of community, while also fostering a deeper connection with the dogs.
•Interactive ways for children to interact with the cats and dogs- learning programs, read books to the dogs and cats, walk the dogs.
•TRN Program- A Trap-Neuter-Return program not only addresses the direct issue of overpopulation and animal welfare but also creates a positive outcome throughout the community.
•Spay/Neuter- Low-cost spay/neuter efforts with the local Veterinarians
• Transporting Dogs & Cats- ways to transport animals to safety and adoption to other states or locations.
